Nintendo releases new Direct Mini

Nintendo recently ended its longest period without the release of a Nintendo Direct, one of its flagship ways of generating hype for upcoming video game releases and news. However, due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, they were forced to cut it short. Instead of foregoing the Direct entirely, Nintendo decided to make it a Direct Mini.

The Nintendo Direct Mini was released March 26, but don’t let the “Mini” in the title be deceiving. Nintendo announced quite a few new games and release dates in this new update. The biggest announcement was undoubtedly the release date for the new “Xenoblade Chronicles” remake for the Nintendo Switch. “Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive” edition is releasing worldwide May 29. Nintendo went on to reveal more information about the upcoming Pokémon Sword and Shield downloadable content, “The Isle of Armor,” which is set to release in June.

In addition to this, Nintendo announced that the new fighter being released into “Super Smash Brothers Ultimate” is from “ARMS,” one of their own titles. In association with “ARMS,” Nintendo announced that there will be a game trial for this title available to Nintendo Switch online subscribers. The game trial is set to end April 6.
